DESCRIPTION
Elaborately wrought American needlework picture mounted on silk. Classic willow tree above grieving lady next to urn/monument. Old gold/gesso frame is later 19th century. Possibly Eastern Massachusetts or Rhode Island. Confounding yet interesting that someone had carefully destroyed the name of the 25 year old lady. It deters us from pinpointing the provenance; on the other hand it provokes us to think about why someone would do such a thing.
