DESCRIPTION
Historic Blue Staffordshire plate depicting Fonthill Abbey, a gothic revival mansion, Wiltshire circa 1796. Conceived by the eccentric author William Beckford and architect James Wyatt, the immense structure featured a famously ambitious but structurally doomed central tower that measured 276 feet tall.
