DESCRIPTION
Reverse glass painting is a unique format for legitimate early American silhouettes. (Most are hollow cut). Note blue brush work, fine detail of bodice, and elaborate eglomise oval window which defines the lower line of the subject. The subject was identified by the artist as “Mrs. Hanbury.” I could find no comps to help identify the artist. Frame appears to be original.

CONDITION
Frame is rough with gold touch-up. Glass and paint work is excellent.
