DESCRIPTION
Enoch Wood leaf and grape vine border series. AKA “Goodrich” Castle was probably built by Godric of Mappestone after the Norman Conquest. It was initially an earth and wooden fortification later reconstructed in the mid 12th century with stone; it was expanded significantly during the late 13th century into an elaborate living quarters with extensive fortification. The last photo shows current condition of the extant structure. Beautiful plate in fine condition.
