118-4--Savah Village Persian Pomegranate Rug c. early 1900s

$0.00

SIZE
2 ft 7 x 4 ft 1 inches

DESCRIPTION
The Savah area is known for having the finest pomegranates. I've seen three pomegranate rugs in the past 10 years. If you wade thru our past rugrabbit listings you can compare the other two. They are all similar in design  but different in flavor. Unmistakably Savah area weave.  It's interesting that Runge doesnt show an example. I'll bet there was one village in the region weaving these things. I doubt they ever made very many and were probably never exported to the US.  Charming. Decorative. Rare.

CONDITION
Selvedges original. A little bit of the ends MIA. Stabilized. Pile gets lowish in the center with a smattering of foundation here and there.
