Queen Ann Slatback Great Chair c. 1740

$0.00

SIZE
44 Inches tall; SH: 16 1/2 in.

DESCRIPTION
Maple. Large gutsy four slat "Great Chair." Beautiful color and patina. The Bulbous Queen Ann front stretcher is the largest and finest we have ever seen on a slatback.

CONDITION
Excellent and fully original aside from one issue: makeshift wheels and obvious loss of height. The quality and aesthetics of this chair make it an excellent candidate for piecing restoration. Needs about two inches. The bottom sausage turning on the front posts are around full size. So the ending joint can be well hidden. Old dark spirit varnish finish will also assist. We may get around to doing this in time. For the time being we will leave it as is.
