Antique Rhode Island Pilgrim Period Great Chair c. 1690

$0.00

SIZE
Top of finial 47 inches. Seat: 23 x 17; Seat Height: 18 inches

DESCRIPTION
Flat arms and ash posts indicate 17th century. The turned underarm stretchers are usually associated with Connecticut. The main reason I suggest Rhode Island-- worm holes. I've never seen a piece of old wood from Rhode Island that did not have worms. Huge gutsy chair has great presence. Upholstered seat is unoriginal but very decorative and makes the chair useful and comfortable.

CONDITION
Somewhere around 300 years old. It cant be perfect. Sturdy and serviceable tho various issues and restorations.
